State RACES Volunteers
The mission of the State RACES program in Boise is to provide the State Bureau of Homeland Security and the State of Idaho with non-commercial emergency radio communications during major emergencies and disasters. RACES provides government to government radio communications; specifically, volunteers maintain radio communications with Idaho's 44 counties, State and federal agencies, and critical infrastructure operators when other means of communications are unavailable. State RACES volunteers meet on the first Thursday of each month in State's Emergency Operations Center at Gowen Field. If you are interested in volunteering for this essential service, please contact ARRL Section Manager and Chief RACES Officer Doug Rich, W7DVR at 376-7651.
